Crop Passport Photos to Aspect Ratio First

Pixel size and KB limits fail less often when you crop framing first, then resize, then compress.

Cropping removes edges so the subject fills the frame. For ID and exam photos, crop before you chase exact pixels or kilobytes.

Why order matters

  1. Crop to head-and-shoulders / required aspect.
  2. Resize to the portal’s pixel box.
  3. Compress to the KB cap.

Compressing a full-resolution phone photo first wastes quality on pixels you will throw away.
