Passport vs Visa Photo — What's Different?

Passport and visa photos often share size and background rules — then diverge on digital KB, form type, and country-specific checklists.
Passport photos and visa photos both show your face for identity checks. Many countries reuse the same print size and light-background rules. Rejections still happen when you assume “one photo fits every form” — digital caps, head-size ranges, and portal file rules can differ even when the mm look identical.
What usually overlaps

- File size — one route may allow ~240 KB; another may cap near 50–100 KB.
- Pixels — some visas list exact pixel boxes; passport print may only care about mm.
- Glasses / head covering — checklists are not always copy-pasted across routes.
- Country pairing — a US passport square is not automatically correct for a Schengen visa; an India passport 35×45 mm may still need a different digital prep for an India e-visa slot.
