How to prepare any exam photo (no upload)
- Convert HEIC → JPG if it is an iPhone photo — many portals reject HEIC. HEIC to JPG.
- Resize to the requested pixels (e.g. 200×230 for bank exams). Resize image.
- Compress under the KB cap — pick the target and download. Compress image.
- Prepare the signature the same way — crop tight, compress to ~4–30 KB.
Common reasons a photo is rejected
- The file is HEIC (from an iPhone) and the portal only accepts JPG.
- The file is over the KB limit — compress it down.
- Wrong pixel dimensions — resize before you compress.
- Busy or dark background — use a plain, light background.
- Signature scanned in colour or too faint — black ink on white, cropped tight.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most common exam photo size?
For NTA exams (NEET, JEE, CUET, UGC NET) a JPG photo of roughly 10–200 KB and a signature of 4–30 KB is typical. Bank exams (IBPS/SBI) are smaller and fixed-pixel: photo ~20–50 KB at 200×230 px, signature ~10–20 KB at 140×60 px. Always confirm the official notice.
What size should a signature scan be for exam forms?
Signatures are usually the smallest file: roughly 4–30 KB as JPG, black ink on white paper. Bank exams often specify 140×60 px. Scan or photograph it, crop tightly, then compress to the required KB.
Why does my exam photo get rejected?
Most rejections are format or size: an iPhone HEIC file the portal cannot read, a file above the KB cap, wrong pixel dimensions, or a busy background. Convert HEIC to JPG, resize to the requested pixels, then compress under the KB limit.
